What causes Gynecomastia?

Although it can effect any age group, Gynecomastia is most common among adolescents and men over fifty. In adolescents, the problem usually goes away on its own bit in older men, Gynecomastia is usually treated with surgery.

There are a number of reasons why men may develop Gynecomastia. In young men, it is usually the result of a hormone imbalance, in men over fifty it could be a sign of thyroid issues, testicular problems, or liver disease. Drugs, such as marijuana or steroids have also been known to cause Gynecomastia. In some cases, the development of large breasts in men can be due to obesity.
